How do payment cycles work?

  1. Start date

    For your mobile service:

The date on which you activate your SIM card is the anniversary date for your mobile plan, and this date marks the start of your payment cycle each month.

    For your Home Internet service:

You received your Fizz Wi-Fi modem by mail?

Its activation date marks the beginning of your payment cycle. Don’t forget, Fizz will activate it remotely three (3) days after its delivery date, but you can activate it yourself in your account if you’re ready before then.

Your modem was delivered by a technician?

If you had an installation appointment with a technician, your modem will be activated then, and the date of your appointment therefore marks the beginning of your payment cycle.

    For your TV service:

The payment cycle for your TV plan will be the same as the one for your Home Internet plan. But because your TV plan is activated as soon as you subscribe, you may need to pay a prorated amount on that day to bridge the gap until the next payment cycle of your Home Internet plan.

Say you subscribe to Fizz TV on December 14 but your next payment cycle for your Home Internet plan only starts on December 30. The prorated amount you will pay on December 14 will therefore correspond to those 16 days.

Come your next full payment cycle, December 30 in our example, the payments for both those plans will be combined, and the payment cycle for your TV plan will be synchronized to the payment cycle of your Home Internet plan.

Good to know: If you subscribe to your TV plan during the freeze period for your Home Internet plan, the amount you will have to pay will correspond to the days leading up to your first full month PLUS one full month.

Say you subscribe to Fizz TV on December 28 but your next payment cycle for your Home Internet plan starts on December 30, thus putting you right in the freeze period. The amount you will pay on December 28 for your TV plan will therefore correspond to those 2 days plus the amount for the next full month. Then come January 30, the payment of your TV plan will be combined to that of your Home Internet plan.

  1. Duration

Payment cycles are monthly, but their duration varies based on the number of days in each month. What’s important to remember is the anniversary date of your plan.

For example, if you activated your SIM card or received your Wi-Fi modem on April 5, the anniversary date for your plan is the 5th, and your next payment cycle will start on May 5, and then June 5, and so on. If your plan is activated on the 31st of a month, it is important to note that your payment cycles will start on the last day of each month, whether it’s the 30, 31 (or even 28 in the case of the month of February).

  1. When the payment is taken

The payment is taken 72 hours before the end of your payment cycle. Your plan is renewed on that date.

Example. Your payment cycle ends on the 5th of the month. The anniversary date is therefore the 6th when the new cycle begins and automatic payment of your plan will therefore take place on the 3rd of this month..

Please note that the dates of your payment cycle, and therefore the date on which your Fizz payment is taken, cannot be changed and payment arrangements are unfortunately not possible.

Good to know: If your plan is suspended by Fizz, whether for purposes of analysis following inappropriate use or following non-payment, your payment cycle will shift. For example, say the plan of a member is suspended following a missed payment, and Fizz ends up receiving the said payment 5 days later. The payment cycle of this member will simply be shifted by 5 days. He’ll enjoy his plan for a month, and the new anniversary date of his plan will become the day Fizz received that payment.

  1. No plan change during the freeze period

You can change your plan directly in your account on Fizz.ca. Changes will go live come your next payment cycle. A freeze period, however, is in effect 108 hours (4.5 days) before the end of your payment cycle, during which time no changes can be made to your plan.

So, aim to submit your changes when there are at least 6 days left in your current payment cycle. How can you know? Go in Your account > My plans. Look right under your monthly price and you will see the days remaining in your payment cycle.

    Exception for TV plans.

You can change the channels in your TV plan anytime, directly in your Fizz account.
